The "Guild Wars 2" themed wood chip stickers are made by hand. The so-called wood chip stickers are painted with wood chips. It is similar to other collage DIY methods. For specific DIY steps, please refer to the detailed illustrated tutorial below.
First of all, let’s introduce the tools and materials used for wood chip stickers.
The original logo of Guild Wars2, thick cardboard, triangle board/long ruler, scissors, utility knife, paper glue/tape, white glue, needle pen, and the most important wood chips. This time I used beech wood chips. The thickness is about the same as ordinary paper.
First pick out a beautiful, relatively flawless wood chip and logo picture.
Cut the logo image to an appropriate size so that it can be easily affixed with paper glue around it.
The reason for applying paper glue/tape is to prevent the wood pieces and logo from shifting during cutting and causing misalignment.
Then divide it into upper and lower parts, which are easier to cut.
Just find a place you like and cut it. The utility knife must be sharp enough, otherwise it will be very hard. It takes a long time to use a utility knife to DIY the whole process. After all, the logo image has many corners.
The faucet part is the most troublesome, especially the dragon tongue!
The last bit is left, come on, come on.
After finally hollowing out the eyes and some parts, the upper part is complete!
Then comes the lower half. Use scissors to deal with the simple parts first.
You can see more and more crumbs on the table.
The dragons tail is also a troublesome part. It is thin and long and can easily break if you are not careful.
Take out another original picture, compare the position and use white glue to stick it on the cardboard. The reason for not using glue is that the glue contains a lot of water, and the wood chips/wood will absorb water, causing the wood chips to warp. The thinner the wood, the more obvious it will be. The same reason for choosing cardboard. Thin paper will wrinkle when using glue. After all, paper is made from wood. After checking the original image, you will find that there are still missing corners and a few scattered pieces outside in some places.
Fix them up to increase the completeness! The reason for missing corners is because the wood chips/wood have the so-called grain direction, and places in the same direction as the wood grain are prone to breakage.
The rest of the text is then drafted in pencil.
There was a mistake here ah ah ah ah!!! I didn’t calculate the position at the end, so I had to divide the words into two rows.
After finishing the draft, ink the words.
Finally, fill in the words with black, and the wood chip sticker is done!!
Compare with the original image after slightly retouching.
The overall time spent is about five hours. As for why you chose wood chips instead of ordinary paper? Because it feels very special to make it. No one has seen Guild Wars 2 made of wood chips? Use this method. There are many works that can be made, and you can also try to make your own Guild Wars 2 wood chip stickers!
