This article is a contribution by ".Clover" on Craftwork.com, demonstrating how to make a sterling silver ring with your own hands! In view of the need to use a lot of professional tools, most friends may only have the same experience as Xiaolin ╮(╯▽╰)╭If anyone succeeds in making it, remember to hand in the homework and let me admire you. ~
If you don’t know what gift to give to your girlfriend, why not make an exclusive ring yourself? The following editor will sort out the process of making a ring from a plaster mold for your reference.
1. First of all, we need to prepare the tools. We use a leather tiger, a medium musket, a leather pipe, a small oil can, a plaster mold, a clay king, a welding brick, tweezers, borax, scissors, and a copper brush. Agate knife, phosphoric acid, Hong Kong ruler. Ultrasonic cleaning machine, etc.
2. Assemble the leather tiger.
3. Choose a plaster mold that you like. Here, my master just randomly chose a Playboy men’s ring. Ha ha.
The ring is 4.7 grams. We cut the material a little more than the actual weight. The ring should be about 5% more. We weigh about 5 grams of the material first.
Remove the label paper on the mold, put the grooved end upward, and pour the silver particles into the groove.
Open the lid of the Sludge King and set it aside for later use (the sludge plays a pressurizing role during the pouring process, allowing the raw materials to fully enter the mold for better molding).
4. Now let’s start igniting the ingredients. Be careful not to point the muzzle at the muzzle when igniting to avoid burns. When igniting, pay attention to adjusting the fire power adjustment button on the gun and continuously stepping on the leather tiger.
5. Start heating from the edge of the plaster mold.
You can add a little borax during the melting process to speed up the melting process. After the silver material is fully melted, quickly use sludge to press the raw material into the plaster mold.
Let it sit for two minutes, use tweezers to remove the plaster mold and put it in water to cool down.
Then gently tap the mold shell with a hammer to loosen the plaster and take it out.ring. Put the ring wrapped in plaster into an ultrasonic cleaning machine to wash off the lime on the surface (you can also do it manually without an ultrasonic cleaning machine).
After cleaning, use a ring steel rod to perform preliminary shaping and remove excess material, then use a small hammer to repeatedly tap for trimming and flatten the notch.
Next, use a half-round file to remove the rough edges.
Next, after heating and tempering the ring, dip it in phosphoric acid (to remove surface impurities) and clean it in clean water. If there is no phosphoric acid, you can use alum instead, but the effect will be inferior. Then use a copper brush dipped in water to brush the ring for simple polishing.
Put the ring on the ring stick, add detergent and use an agate knife to polish (scrape repeatedly), then rinse with water after polishing.
Next, let me show you the results.
