Autumn/Winter 2015 Fashion Week: Gucci’s new revival of an old era

Autumn/Winter 2015 Fashion Week: Gucci’s new revival of an old era

With much anticipation and focus in the fashion industry, Gucci’s new design director Alessandro Michele released his first women’s collection after taking charge of Gucci at Milan Fashion Week.

Alessandro Michele obviously has more different ideas about Gucci created by former director Frida Giannini for 10 years. His first series gave us a younger style that combines retro and literary atmosphere. The new Gucci gives the sexy and mature Gucci under Frida Giannini a new look, and also officially reveals the arrival of a new generation of this old Italian brand.

With 13 years of experience in the Gucci design team, no one would doubt Alessandro Michele’s design skills and familiarity with the brand, and Alessandro Michele’s autumn and winter series also showed his style with such a youthful design. Ambitious, and at the same time, people are ready to start tearing away the label that Gucci was positioned as sexy and beautiful, exclusive for mature women during the Frida Giannini period.

Although the Gucci aristocratic brand image can still be seen in Alessandro Micheles designs, he does not focus on self-cultivation and womens curves like Frida Giannini. Instead, he uses his perspective to create a model with a rich A new era woman with intellectual temperament.

So we can see berets and black-framed glasses throughout the show, as well as pleated skirts, bow ties, printed shirts and dresses, chiffon bows... these retro elements of the 1970s and 1980s are all improved. The traditional design is blended into a modern style, and the smart suit styles jointly create a new era of working womens image, while the seemingly conservative theme adds a touch of sexy femininity with several sets of see-through decorations.

The colors of the entire series adopt saturated and rich calm tones, combined with beautiful line tailoring, making the whole collection more charming and sophisticated. In addition, the fashion show was specially interspersed with several androgynous male models on the catwalk, aiming to break the stereotyped gender boundaries between men and women, echoing Alessandro Micheles attempt to break away from the constraints of reality and bring a new image to Gucci with the new revival design of the old era.

In terms of details, the knots of various fabrics, cute and eye-catching plush shoes, and exquisite and vivid bird patterns make the entire series richer.
