Let’s learn how to DIY a pearl velvet headband. The steps are a bit complicated, but those who are patient can try it by themselves. It takes a little time to make a beautiful and tasteful headband.
Materials: Ordinary headband without decoration, 60cm velvet ribbon with the same width as the headband, pearls, binder clip, 502 glue, scissors, wire cutters, fine gold wire, toothpicks.
DIY steps 1-4
1. The length of the velvet ribbon is a few centimeters longer than the headband. Cut the velvet ribbon to the appropriate length according to this standard.
2. Use a toothpick dipped in a small amount of glue to apply a few centimeters from the end of the hairband, and then apply a small amount of glue every quarter of the way to the middle part.
3. Squeeze the velvet band firmly toward the glue on the headband and fold the ends inwards. Secure the tail with a binder clip to prevent the velvet band from moving.
4. Cut out a suitable length of thin gold wire. The length of the thin gold wire should be a few centimeters longer than the headband.
DIY steps 5-8
5. Apply a few more spots of glue on the hairband to ensure a stronger adhesion.
6. Insert the thin gold wire between the hairband and the velvet band to make one end secure. Then press the velvet tape firmly towards the glue.
7. String the pearls on the thin gold wire, and then wrap the thin gold wire along the hairband so that the pearls sit on the top of the velvet band of the hairband.
8. Wrap the wire along the hairband, then string the next pearl and wrap it again. Repeat the above method to string pearls and wrap the hairband. As each section is completed, secure more of the velvet strip with glue.
DIY steps 9-10
9. When you have strung the pearls on the thin gold wire and wrapped it all the way down to the end, continue to fix it with glue, cut off the thin gold wire, and then tuck the end into the velvet and the hairband to hide it.
10. Leave the ribbon just long enough to fold inwards. Fold the ribbon inward and secure with a binder clip. The same goes for the other end, which can only be fixed smoothly after it is completely dry. So wait until the glue is completely dry before wearing it.
