At this years Design Miami/Basel 2018, SFA Advisory and Southern Guild will exhibit Endangered, a series of styling chairs created by South African artist Porky Hefer, all of which are based on animals facing extinction. With themes including: orangutans, polar bears, sloths, blue whales, great white sharks, and more, and using sustainable and environmentally friendly materials handmade by Cape Town artists, Hefer hopes to let everyone know what peoples hands can create, and not The modern consumerist society driven by the destructive mass production brought about by technology.

Hefer has collaborated with knitting artist Ronel Jordaan in the past to create Heart Works and Mielie, transforming these animals into large-scale tactile sculptures. They used crochet, felting, sewing, embroidery and other special treatments to make each animals surface All soft and comfortable, and the Endangered collection is no exception. For Hafer, in the future inherited by the next generation, there is not only animal conservation and environmental protection to worry about, but also the preservation and inheritance of traditional skills.
