How to do it:
- Prepare two pieces of fabric, as shown below.
- Seal each piece of fabric.
- First, we will make a section of the trapezoidal lid. Fold the rest of the trapezoid except the long side to 1.5 cm and sew using a sewing machine (yellow line part).
- Align the center of the trapezoidal cover and stack it on another piece of fabric, leaving a 1.5cm seam allowance for sewing (the red line).
- On the side opposite the lid part, 4 cm from the end, sew a sturdy (length 4 cm) double-sided patch.
- Fold it in half and sew the sides (red thread). Seam allowance is 1.5cm, but please adjust the seam allowance so that it is not longer than 22 cm.
- Use a sewing machine to sew 5cm corners. (red line)
- Make the corners the same way on the other side.
- Hand-sewn at a seam width of about 3 cm (yellow line) in the photo.
- Turn the lid back outwards, the effect is as shown in the picture below,
- Sewing machine sews the red line part of the cover.
- The stitching effect is shown in the picture below.
- Return to step "11" and sew on the other side of the cover (yellow line part). Leave 1cm at both ends.
- Thread the elastic through the 1cm that is not sewn and take it out the other side.
- Put in the packed lunch and adjust the rubber appropriately. Leave a mark on the length of the rubber.
- As shown in the picture below, use a sewing machine to sew the red line so that it overlaps the previously sewn yellow line. Sew the other side the same way. The elastic length cannot be adjusted after sewing.
- Viewed from the front, the effect is as shown below.
- Sew the other side of the Velcro (about 4 cm in size) inside the lid.
- The beautiful flip lunch bag is completed. This is where I introduce you to the detailed tutorial on how to make a bento box flip-top handmade bag.
