Let’s learn how to make a Mori-style cotton and linen handmade bag that can be carried over the shoulder.
< /p>
How to do it:
- Match the fabric of the cover part (length 18 cm x width 42 cm) with the lining, and sew to determine the shape of the cover. (red line)
- Cut the seam allowance to about 7mm and cut it into a curve (yellow line)
- Place the fabric back to the front" and place the hand-held strap in the middle, temporarily hemming it (red line). For reference, what we have prepared is a strap that is 25mm wide, 20cm long, and 6cm open in the center.
- Turn the cover back to the "back", place it in the middle, and temporarily sew the ends. (red line)
- Flip over the lid and it looks like this.
- Turn over to the other side and sew a 1.5cm seam allowance on both sides. (red line)
- I will sew a 6cm edge (yellow thread). If possible, we could sew it roughly by hand sewing so that the quilting seam allowances don't move (threads).
- I made corners on both sides.
- Place a corner into which a short strip (25mm wide and 8cm long) can be placed, fold it in half and sew the edges temporarily. (red line)
- Check the effect and return it to the front like this. The fabric on the front (quilted) side will be returned to the "inside".
- Make the inner fabric "in front" and make a bag like the front fabric. Open the return openings on both sides.
- Cut the corners to about 7mm.
- Return internal structure to "front".
- Made inner fabrics of the same size. The effect is shown in the figure below.
- Can be fixed with gusset pins.
- Sew with a sewing machine. You can actually turn it over from the return opening and continue with the "Step 20" process, where the next step will be to continue sewing the front and lining together.
- Turn the inner fabric outward.
- Gusset corners of front fabric (red thread) that match interior fabric (yellow thread).
- We sewed part of the seam allowance (white thread). I cut off the extra seam allowance of the quilting fabric.
- Turn it back to the front from the return opening and sew a bag around the opening.
- Be careful not to sew the quilting, sew a return opening.
- Put on the adjustable straps and you're done.
- Sew Velcro on the inside of the lid. Our complete Mori girl cotton and linen handmade bag is completed. Make your own cotton and linen handmade shoulder bag, it’s beautiful.
