This series of small, handmade fabric coin purses is inspired by an elegant encounter with Japanese cuisine. I have been fond of Japanese food for a long time, and have tried several recommended dishes with good reputations in China. Later, when I compared the local taste in Kyoto, Japan, there was still something missing. To put it bluntly, it was more about the chef’s consideration of the ingredients, heat, and dosage. . Japanese cuisine pays attention to the seasons. Not only the ingredients must be eaten according to the time order, but also the plate decorations and tableware must reflect the changes of the seasons. For example, roasted fish in autumn is best served with a dry leaf vein, while a small shell-shaped plate is most suitable for fish caught in spring. When I was making these handmade fabric bags, I often stopped and thought about the fine and simple flowers on the tableware I used that day.
