Nowadays, you need to change your shoes when you are at home or visiting. Instead of wearing any type of slippers bought at the mall, why not make your own pair of indoor shoes. For those who like handicrafts, not only are they comfortable to wear, but they also feel great wearing the handmade items.

The materials that need to be prepared are:

Shoe upper cloth (burlap or thick cotton cloth, Other specialty fabrics are also available), about 1/4 meter.

Shoe lining (comfortable cotton), about 1/4-1/2 meter.

Thick glued cotton, half a meter. Waterproof and non-slip cloth, about 1/8 meter of shoe sole padding with a certain degree of support, for example, I use 1-2 pairs of wood pulp insoles, 1/8 meter of sponge cloth, etc.

First, use proofing paper to draw the shoe pattern. If you don’t have proofing paper, you can use newspaper, magazine paper, etc. Because they are slippers, the size of the shoes does not need to be precise, as long as they fit within a certain size range.

Then according to the shoe pattern, cut out one piece on the left and right sides of the upper fabric (with seam allowance), one piece on the left and right sides of the shoe lining fabric (with seam allowance), and one piece on the left and right sides of the anti-slip sole cloth (with seam allowance) ), sole lining (the same as the shoe body lining), one on the left and one on the left (with twice the seam allowance), and one patch on the left and right of the shoe body and sole (seamless).

Be careful not to cut the upper of the shoe in a straight line. You must trace one piece on the front and one on the opposite side.

After cutting, iron the glued quilting on the lining fabric. If your quilting is thin or the top fabric is thin and easy to wrinkle, then iron a layer on the top fabric as well. .

The sole is the key to determining comfort. It must have a certain degree of hardness and support. Shoes that are too soft and too thin will be uncomfortable to walk on and can easily pinch your feet. The soles must be of moderate hardness and thickness to be comfortable on the feet. When making it, it should not be too hard and should have a little elasticity, otherwise it will be difficult to turn it over to the right side after sewing. I used the semi-finished embroidery pieces that I had stored in the past. They were used to make insoles for children. Adults have big feet and need to be assembled, so the three layers of a pair of shoes require about 10 pieces, which is still a bit wasteful. Later, I thought of a way to put the insoles directly. The more the merrier, I checked the insoles in the nearby market, but none of them had the right hardness and elasticity. After returning home, I accidentally discovered that the wood pulp insoles I bought before, coupled with a thick layer of quilted cloth with sponge, still meet the comfort requirements. You may wish to find your own suitable insoles. After several layers of materials are found and sewn together, they are wrapped in the ironed and cotton-covered sole lining and sewn together. The seam allowance for the lining of the sole must be larger, otherwise the content inside will be too thick to be wrapped. In the case of the one I took, it would be more difficult to wrap.

When making the shoe body, the upper fabric can be decorated first, such as painting. The back interface of the decorated surface fabric and lining fabric are sewn separately for each piece.

Then align the surface of the left foot with the lining, and the surface of the right foot with the lining. Be sure not to reverse it. Just like sewing other clothes, when sewing Be face to face. Turn it back in this way to hide the seam inside where you can't see it. After aligning it, fix it with a stitch and sew a circle around the inner shoe opening.

After sewing, cut out the teeth at a curved position so that it will be flatter when turned over. Be careful not to cut the suture.

After sewing, turn it to the front and press the thread. This The first one is pressed by a machine and is not flat enough. The following ones are all pressed by hand and are very beautiful.
