Socks are a good material for handicrafts, especially for making dolls! I am sharing a tutorial on how to use socks to make a cute little monkey puppet. It looks very smart at first glance. Use socks of various colors and patterns. They are all very beautiful to watch. If you are interested, you can check out the last few works directly!~
Materials and tools: a pair of funky socks (any color, any length), cotton stuffing, needle and thread, scissors, toy eyes.
First turn the socks inside out. Iron them so that the heel is in the center of the sock, not the side.
Cut open the first sock, which will be the main body of the monkey. Starting at his feet and legs, cut off the sock cuffs and round the edges, working your way up to the heels. You now have the monkey body ready!
The cutting of the second sock is a bit complicated. Look at the picture above. It is used to make the arms, ears, mouth and tail.
What it looks like after cutting.
If you have pins, pin them along the edges so they don't curl.
Like this.
Sew the first leg starting from the outer edge. First sew and punch the edgesKnot the thread and sew above the legs, leaving about 5cm before reaching the top (you need this for both legs). Tie a knot and cut the thread.
Repeat on the other leg.
Now it’s time to give your monkey eyes!
Temporarily turn part of the body outward and vaguely mark where the eyes will be.
Using scissors, try cutting out the very small holes marked. Remember, the material is very stretchy, so smaller is better.
Once you have made the holes, insert the eyes into place.
Hold them with one hand and turn the socks inside out with the other hand.
Start filling from the head.
You will find that the monkey is very elastic, so it will be larger than you think.
After stuffing it, sew it up and now sew up the other leg.
Congratulations, you are already a bit like a living thing!
Take out the toe part from the sock, use pins to fix it in place and start making the mouth.
Tuck some stuff in for now to give you an idea of ??what its going to look like. Tie a knot on one side and sew along the top from one side to the other.
Now its time to use your embroidery floss and sew two nostrils and a smile.
Stuff the mouth and continue sewing until it is completely sewn shut.
Your monkey should now have a bright smile!
Sew the arms and tail like the legs and fill them.
Once stuffed, sew them onto the monkeys body.
Ears are done almost the same way.
Arrange them using pins if necessary, then sew.
Well done, you just made your first sock monkey!
