The following is a tutorial for expectant mothers to make their own maternity pants. As the belly gets bigger day by day, wearing pants with a belt is always not so comfortable, and wearing a dress is sometimes inconvenient. The maternity pants in the store may not look good, and some are too expensive. It’s a pity that you can’t use them after wearing them for two months.
Find out some pants that you don’t wear before and make a small makeover. It’s super simple. The money you save can be used to buy more things for your baby~
Step one:
Find a pair of trousers that have been eliminated in the past, and an autumn coat or suspenders, preferably pure cotton with good elasticity, preferably modal ones, which are too loose
I put my pants on and drew the line on my belly
After taking them off, straighten your pants and draw the lines neatly and clearly
Step 2:
Put the vest upside down onto the trousers. The edge of the vest can be directly used as the waistband of the trousers. You don’t need to sew it again or overlock it (it’s best to put it in place at once, so as to draw the line on the trousers. Printed on the vest...) My vest is relatively thin, so I drew two vertical lines on both sides. When the time comes, I will cut it from here. If the vest is fat, I can go directly to the seam.
Step Three:
Cut off the inside of the drawn line. When doing it for the first time, be sure to leave a little more when cutting (just like cutting hair, you can trim it slowly if you cut too much, but you can't connect it if you cut too much)
Don’t cut the vest directly, it is better to disassemble it along the seams on both sides
Don’t cut the vest directly. It’s better to take it apart along the seams on both sides. I’m afraid of cutting asymmetry and I cut it on top of each other. It’s best to lay it flat when cutting. Don’t pick it up and it will lose shape easily.
My pants are mid-waisted, so I only need to make the front piece. If you want low-waisted pants, you can also cut off the waistband. The waistband is too thick and uncomfortable, so you don’t need to take apart the vest. You can directly connect it in a circle (you can connect it to as high a waist as you want)
Step 4:
Measure the trousers and the cut vest piece before sewing. (I still remind new moms like me to sew on large stitches first, put them on and see the effect. If anything doesn’t fit, it will be easier to change, because the vest piece is elastic and often stretches out when it is sewn. It’s better to fix it with large stitches first)
Step 5:
The beautiful maternity pants are ready. Moms, hurry up and put them on. I emphasize that the fabric on the belly must be elastic to be more comfortable. I think I can wear them from the current four months to autumn. It’s time to change into trousers at seven or eight months
When sewing clothes, it is best to use brightly colored threads when attaching large stitches at the beginning so that it is easier to remove at the end. When you are actually sewing, use threads of the same color. Don't make the stitches too loose or they will be exposed from the front. Come on, you can see the photo of my upper body for details. It was only wired, and you can see the white pins on the front
