The following is a tutorial on how to make a fabric keyboard pad. The steps are relatively simple and easy to understand. The finished keyboard pad looks like a stretching cat, don’t be too cute! The tools and materials needed are: half a yard (#1.5 feet) of non-woven fabric, needle and thread, a bag of rice, embroidery hoop, and some embroidery skills are also required. For specific DIY steps, please refer to the detailed illustrated tutorial below.
Find some fonts and patterns you want to embroider. The author chose the words "dumb" and "cute"
The fabric cat keyboard pad you make doesn’t need to be too big, it just needs to be as long as your keyboard. Then decide the width of the cat (#usually about 4 inches), and then draw the head (#slightly larger than the body), limbs and tail. There is no need to pursue perfection and precision too much, the cuteness of cats is the quirkiness~
After deciding on the size, we can start drafting. What I drew is a pair of black-rimmed glasses. Please ensure there is enough space around the glasses for the embroidery hoop.
Start work!
After sewing the glasses, embroider a triangular nose for the cat under the glasses. After calculating the length, sew the font you just selected onto the body.
You're done! Now lets start making the cat face.
Crop the cat face. Leave space for the seam. Cut another piece of fabric the same size. Sew the two pieces of fabric together. The cats face should be about 4 inches wider (not counting seams) and about 3.5 inches in length.
Before sewing, we need 2 cat ears! Find two scraps and cut out two triangular ears, sew the edges of the ears, and turn the front side out (#Put the part with the thread inside) , take two pins and nail them to the back of the ears (# needle goes through the fabric twice).
Then sew the cats face, paying attention to sew the ears in, but don't sew them to death, leaving a small opening under the chin.
Pour some rice from the small opening to plump up the face. Then seal the small opening.
(# cute me. But I’m really curious)
The next step is to combineNow! Sew the limbs and tail of Neko-chan, and don’t forget to leave some space for the fitting seams.
Similarly, fill in some rice for the limbs and tail.
Lift the cats legs and tail, let the rice sink to the bottom, and then seal. (#Leave space for connections)
Then there is the cats body. Cut two pieces of fabric of the same size and stack the two pieces together. Insert the tail of the limbs and sew carefully. Leave a small opening and pour in the rice (#If you are afraid of sewing the limbs and tail crookedly, you can use pins to fix the parts on the body first, and then sew when you are satisfied)
Don’t fill your cat’s body with too much rice. Firstly, it doesn’t look good, and secondly, it can easily burst your belly.
I will form the head! The head can be placed on the upper part of the forelimbs (# still needs to be sewn to the body)
The cute fabric cat is finished~
Since I got the keyboard pad, my wrists are no longer sore and I can type more efficiently~~~~
