Creating a clean and comfortable home space is impossible without storage boxes. The humble daily household items can play a huge role! The following crafts editor will share with you how to make your own fabric storage box. You can DIY it according to your own size and preference, and integrate it into the overall decoration of your home. For the hand-making method of this labeled fabric storage box, please refer to the detailed illustrated tutorial below. It is a very simple hand-made production. I believe that craftsmen who like fabric art can easily complete it.
DIY storage box materials:
1. A piece of sturdy non-woven fabric, such as canvas;
2. Thread that matches the color of the cloth;
3. Sewing machines, irons and basic sewing equipment;
4. Label holder;
5. Nail polish (optional).
DIY storage box steps:
1. Apply nail polish to the label holder, and apply it layer by layer on the metal piece until it is evenly coated.
2. Cut the fabric. Take any size square or rectangle of fabric you like (mine was a 12-inch square). Draw bisectors on each side to determine the height of the box (mine was 3.75 inches from each side). After drawing the lines, the cloth will be divided into 9 grids.
Cut off the four outermost squares to form a cross. Then make the same piece in the same way.
3. Suture. Place the two pieces of cloth face to face, align the edges, and secure.
Leave a 1/4-inch seam allowance and sew along the edge of the cross, leaving a return seam (the return seam should remain at the top of the box).
4. Trim sharp corners. Cut off the excess fabric at the corners and corners (cutting off the excess fabric will make the box look flat when turned out).
5. Turn it over and iron it flat. Turn the fabric out from the back, use a pointed object to poke out the corners, smooth the seams, and then iron them flat. Fold the fabric at the return edge inward along the stitches that have been sewn, and then iron it so that it becomes a straight line.
6. Press open thread. Press a circle of open wire along the cross shape (so that the return opening can be sealed).
7. Suture the angle. Fold the four sides of the cloth and connect them two by two. Sew the two connected sides with a backstitch along the previous topstitching. Once all four sides are sewn, your box is complete.
8. Install the label holder. In the end its just a matter of sewing the label keeper to the box and stuffing your odds and ends inside.
Its a pretty nice storage box. Its both practical and beautiful. Good wives and mothers now and in the future won't keep it in their collection~~~
