Super simple handmade sundress, just a few simple steps to successfully DIY it, allowing you to experience the addiction of a fashion designer. It is definitely an ideal choice for beginners to get started with sewing!
Step one: Cut out a 30-inch*30-inch square piece of knitted fabric. To determine this size, measure from shoulder to just below hip (15 inches). Fold the cloth in half and lay it flat on the table and mark the center position;
Step 2: Draw two 2.5-inch semicircles on the fold, 3.5 inches to the left and 3.5 inches from the center point, as armholes (the method to determine the 3.5-inch distance to the left and right is: measure the bust width to 7 inches , leaving 3.5 inches on the left and right sides can make the width of the front and rear panels 7 inches);
Step 3: Carefully cut out a semicircle;
Step 4: Cut the folded line connecting the two semicircles to prepare the neckline of the sundress;
Step 5: Cut a 3-inch-wide piece of binding fabric. Two of them are 32-inch long cuff edges and knotted bands, and the other two are long enough to cover the front and back necklines (about 8 inches);
Step 6: My least favorite thing to do is sew bias tape, so I got lazy on this step. I folded the binding strips in half and sewed the edges.
Please sew tightly against the edge!
Step 7: Iron the sewn edge strips so that the seam moves to the center after folding:
Step 8: Wrap the hemming strip around the front neckline of the sundress and sew carefully, ensuring that the needle and thread lock the hemming strips at the front and back at the same time:
The hemming strip is slightly longer than the front neckline, just cut off the excess. The back neckline is sewn in the same way.
Step 9: Start hemming at the center point of the armhole, and secure other positions of the hemming strip along the armhole with pins.
Step 10: Fold the hemming strip in half, start sewing from one side, and then sew a full circle around the armhole so that the knotted tape and the armhole seam are integrated, and then reinforce and sew a circle at the other end. The other armhole is treated similarly.
Step 11: Finally, trim the knotted strips to make them look neater:
