Origami originated in China in the 1st or 2nd century AD. It was introduced to Japan in the 6th century. Like other arts in Japanese culture, origami began as an accidental revelation. For example, some simple folds on origami paper at that time evoked peoples spiritual imagination of an animal, a flower or a crane, rather than creating a realistic work that directly depicted the actual object.
