The Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower is one of Shanghais iconic cultural landscapes. It is located in Lujiazui, Pudong New Area. The tower is approximately 468 meters high. The building was constructed in July 1991 and put into use in May 1995. It is responsible for the transmission business of 6 wireless TV sets in Shanghai, with an area coverage radius of 80 kilometers.
The Oriental Pearl TV Tower is one of the first batch of AAAAA tourist attractions in the country. There are landscapes and facilities in the tower such as a space capsule, a revolving restaurant, and the Shanghai Urban Historical Development Exhibition Hall. In 1995, it was listed as one of Shanghais top ten new landscapes.
