Blue-ringed octopus (scientific name: Hapalochlaen maculosa) is a very small octopus species, with an arm span of no more than 15 cm. It can feed small fish, crabs, shrimps and crustaceans, and will paralyze the prey with a strong toxin (tetrodotoxin). In the ocean, the blue-ringed octopus is one of the most venomous creatures. A bite from this small octopus can kill a person. But this kind of octopus will not actively attack humans unless they are seriously threatened.
