After hundreds of years of debate, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the "rose" (actually a rose, but mistranslated as a rose by Taiwanese) as the national flower on September 23, 1986. They believe it is the embodiment of love, peace, friendship, courage and devotion. Americans also believe that red roses symbolize love, love and courage. Light pink conveys a message of approval or praise, pink represents elegance and noble demeanor, dark pink expresses gratitude, white symbolizes purity, and yellow symbolizes celebration and happiness.
