The Space Needle is an observation tower located in Seattle, Washington, United States. It is one of Seattles landmark buildings. The Space Needle was built in 1961 for the World Expo held in 1962. During the World Expo, the Space Needle welcomed 2.3 million visitors.
The Space Needle is 184 meters high, with the top floor 158 meters above the ground. When it was built, it was one of the tallest buildings in the western United States. The Space Needle is 42 meters wide at its widest point, has a total weight of 9,550 tons, and is designed to withstand a 9.1 magnitude earthquake and 10 kilometers per hour wind. In addition, 25 lightning rods are installed on the tower.
