Tang Monk is a character in "Journey to the West", one of Chinas four famous novels, and his prototype is Xuanzang of the Tang Dynasty. Xuanzang was a famous Tripitaka master in the Tang Dynasty and a famous translator in the history of Chinese Buddhism. His common surname is Chen and his real name is Yi. He was born in Fengshi County, Luozhou (now in Yanshi, Luoyang, Henan). As early as the Dunhuang murals of the Western Xia Dynasty, there are stories of Tang Monk seeking scriptures. Tang Monk and the monkey-like Sun Wukong are holding white horses. Later, after continuous interpretation, "Journey to the West" was created.
