Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao Football Club Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao Football Club is a professional football club in Guangzhou, China, currently participating in the Chinese Football Super League. Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao Football Club was formerly the Guangzhou Football Team founded in 1954. In January 1993, the Guangzhou Football Team cooperated with the Helios Group and became Chinas first professional football club jointly owned by the government and an enterprise. On March 1, 2010, Evergrande Group bought out all the equity in the team, and the club was renamed Guangzhou Evergrande Football Club. Since the 2011 season, Guangzhou Tianhe Stadium has been used as the home court. In 2012, the club participated in the Asian Football Club Champions League for the first time and entered the quarterfinals. In 2013, it won the Asian Football Club Champions League championship. This was the first time a Chinese football club won the championship in this event. In the same year, it won the AFC Best Club Award. On June 5, 2014, Alibaba acquired 50% of the shares of Evergrande Club; on July 4 of the same year, the club was renamed Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao Football Club. On February 26, 2015, Lippi resigned as head coach of Evergrande and Cannavaro took over; on June 4 of the same year, Evergrande officially announced that Cannavaro was dismissed from get out of class, and the famous Brazilian coach Luis Felipe Scolari Take office.
