Voles are a member of the family Hamsteridae, including five genera. Compared with other mice, voles are sturdier, have shorter tails, and have smaller eyes and ears than other mice. Voles can live in a variety of environments. Most are ground-dwelling species that dig underground passages or make nests in crevices under fallen logs, tree roots, and rocks. Some are active during the day, some are active at night, and some are active day and night. Most feed on plant foods, while some species eat animal foods. Likes to live in groups. Not hibernating. It breeds 2 to 4 times a year, giving birth to 5 to 14 litters per litter, and has a lifespan of 4 years.
