The Tang Monk in Journey to the West is a well-known name. The prototype of Tang Monk is Xuanzang of the Tang Dynasty. Xuanzang, a famous monk from the Tang Dynasty, was born in Luoyang, Henan. When he was 13 years old, he followed his second brother to become a monk at Pure Land Temple in Luoyang. In the first year of Zhenguan (627 AD), he traveled to India and studied Buddhist scriptures seriously. Seventeen years later, he returned to Chang'an and wrote books and translated scriptures at Hongfu Temple and Daci'en Temple. His major works include "Records of the Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty", "On Huizong", "On the Cure of Evil", etc. He translated 75 Indian Buddhist classics, totaling 1,335 volumes, and made important contributions to cultural exchanges between China and India.
