When you watch Winnie the Pooh, you won’t forget Winnie the Pooh’s honeypot! So how to make a honeypot by hand? The editor will introduce to you the handmade method of Winnie the Pooh honeypot, and you can also let your children use it. Imagination!
You need to prepare:
Small clay pot or flower pot
Water-based paint (white, yellow etc.)
Plastic seal bag (for mixing paint)
Paint brush or sponge brush
Masking tape
Scissors
Acrylic sealing primer
Cotton swabs
Yellow ink pad
Black marker
Plastic eyes
Round and heart-shaped wood pieces with a diameter of about 4 cm
Method:
1. First, apply white water-based paint on the inside and outside of the small clay pot as the base coat . Leave to dry.
2. Tear off a piece of masking tape long enough to wrap around the edge of the pot.
3. Cut the lower edge of the tape into a wavy shape, and then stick the tape to the upper edge of the clay pot to create the effect of honey overflowing.
4. Now, paint the inside of the clay pot with yellow water-based paint and the outside with your child’s favorite color. There are a lot of pores on the pot, so you need to apply more base water-based paint on it to seal these pores. Each layer of water-based paint needs to dry before applying another layer. In addition, you can also let your children use plastic sealed bags to mix colors: pour several different colors into the sealed bag, seal the mouth, and then let the child hold the bag and shake it constantly. This is also a great way to teach children about the three primary colors and how to mix and match colors.
5. After the water-based paint on the outside of the pot is completely dry, remove the masking tape and paint the white part after removing the tape yellow, like the color of honey.
6. Now let’s decorate the clay pot. You can make some fingerprint bees on it. Let the children press their thumbs on the yellow stamp pad first, and then press the ink pad on their hands onto the clay pot. After the ink pad dries, use a black marker and plastic eyes to decorate the fingerprints into bees of various shapes.
7. Decorate some flowers and butterflies on the pot: Use a cotton swab dipped in paint to draw the shapes of flowers and butterflies on the pot.
8. Use a black marker to write its purpose on the pot, such as "Hunny" (honey), "dquo;Crayons" (crayons) or "Scissors" (scissors), etc.
9. After the decoration is completed, apply another layer of acrylic sealing primer to prevent the previous water-based paint from peeling off and make the jar appear more shiny.
10. During the production process, you can also play color matching games with your children! The method of the game is as follows: when painting the clay pot, also paint the heart-shaped and round wood pieces with the corresponding colors. Have the children make fingerprint bees on the wood chips, then put the wood chips into the bag and have the children take them out and sort the wood chips according to the color of the pot. Younger children will really enjoy this color matching game. For older children, you can also increase the difficulty of the game - time it to see who can finish the fastest!
