Flowers and ladybugs

I remember last summer, I saw a few ladybugs in the flowers in front of my house. Seeing these large and small ladybugs, I had some ideas.

I caught some ladybugs home, put them in a transparent bottle, and started observing. Let’s first look for where its eyes are. First of all, I’m sure that the ladybug has eyes. Otherwise, how would it see? But I couldn’t find it even if I looked left and right. Maybe its eyes are too small. . So I "asked" a magnifying glass to help. After looking under a magnifying glass, I found the answer: in front of the ladybugs round body, there is a small round thing, which may be its head; there is a small black dot on each end of its head. Son, these must be the eyes of the ladybug.

How many legs does the ladybug have? I took out one of the ladybugs I caught and wanted to turn it over to see how many legs it had, but it was messed up on the table. I ran, I couldn't catch it, and finally I caught it, but I don't know why, this ladybug only has 5 legs. So I took out another one to confirm whether all ladybugs only have 5 legs, so I can let it fly accidentally. I had no choice but to take out another one, and it flew away again. I almost wanted to give up. But when I thought about it, how could I give up so easily? So I regained my confidence. I carefully took out a ladybug and successfully discovered: It turns out that the ladybug has 6 legs.

There is one last question left: Are ladybugs pests or beneficial insects? I put the ladybugs in the yard, and through observation I found that only one of them is a beneficial insect, and it is the "Seven-starred Ladybug". By looking up information from the book, I also learned that the seven-spotted ladybug is orange-yellow with seven black spots on its back, and it is also called Sister Flower. Seven-spotted ladybugs specialize in eating a kind of pest called aphids. Aphids are also called grub bugs. They pierce the sap on the surface of plants with their mouths, causing the plants to wither and die. The seven-spotted ladybug can eat more than a hundred aphids a day, so among the ladybugs, only the seven-spotted ladybug is a beneficial insect, and the others are pests.

I screamed with excitement because I finally discovered the secret of the ladybug: the ladybug’s eyes are at both ends of its small head; the ladybug has 6 legs; among the ladybugs, only the seven-star ladybug is the only one. It is a beneficial insect.
