The evolution of the story of Snow White

Snow White (illustrated by Franz, 1905-1910) In their first edition, the Brothers Grimms first published edition collection, the culprit was Snow White jealous mother. In one version sent to another folklore researcher before the first version, moreover, she did not order a servant to take her to the forest, but needed her He went to gather flowers and abandoned her; in the first version, this task was transferred to a servant. Believe in changing to a stepmom in a later editionA childrens story that is downplayed in this book.

Disneys variation of Snow White gave the dwarfs names and included magical, moving trees and a singing Snow White.

Many other variations of the story exist throughout Europe. In these variations the dwarfs are robbers, and the magical mirror is a dialogue with the sun or moon.

In a version of Snow White and the Dwarfs from Albania, collected by Johann Georg von Hahn, the main character lives with 40 dragons. Her sleep is made of a ring. There is a twist at the beginning of the story, in which a teacher urges the heroine to kill her evil stepmother who will take her place. The origin of this story is disputed and it is probably no older than the Middle Ages. There are actually two Albanian versions of Snow White: one whose stepmother tried to kill her, and the other who was jealous of her two sisters who tried to kill her. "The Jealous Sisters" is another Albanian fairy tale. In both fairy tales the death is due to a ring.

Paralleling the stepmothers question of her magic mirror, the Indian epic Padmavat (1540) includes the line: "Who is more beautiful, me or Padmavati?" Queen Nagamati asked for her new parrot, which gave a Unpleasant reply…”;

This story is similar to Snow White in Russian writer Alexander Pushkins poem The Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Knights (1833), with the knight replacing the dwarf star.< /p>
