If you have an iPad or Kindle, try making a protective case using the detailed instructions below. No professional skills are required, just take old book covers and reuse them. Friends, have you had this idea for a long time? If you like this kind of tablet protective cover, then prepare the materials and follow the step-by-step tutorial below to give it a try!~
You will need: 1 old hardcover book, wrapping paper, cardboard, elastic band, PVA or book adhesive, tape, scissors, carving knife.
1. Carefully cut the cover out of a hardcover book – use a very old book so you don’t feel bad tearing it out!
2. When laying flat, cut out the wrapping paper half an inch larger than the cover of the hardcover book. Glue the paper to the outside of the cover, fold the excess edges to the inside of the cover, and smooth the paper to avoid air bubbles or wrinkles. Secure the inside edges with tape.
3. Cut out another piece of paper whose height is slightly smaller than the inside of the book cover. In terms of width, the paper only needs to be about two-thirds the width of the cover – you'll see why in a minute! Glue the paper to the inside of the cover, making sure to completely cover the left and center sides.
4&5. Cut a piece of cardboard just slightly smaller than the right side of the book cover – this will become the base for your Kindle/iPad/other electronics, which is why you don’t need to cover the entire book cover! Cover the cardboard with paper and secure the edges with plenty of tape – Don't worry if the back of the cardboard is messy.
6. Now comes the tricky part. Take some elastic and wrap it around your Kindle/iPad and cardboard to measure how much you need for each corner. Take care to make sure the elastic bands aren't too long - they need to be slightly on the smaller side to allow the elastic to hold the iPad in place. Wrap elastic around each corner of the cardboard and secure with plenty of tape.
7&8. Once the four elastic corners are in place, cut a long strip of elastic that will wrap theentire lid to keep it closed. Glue to the back of the cardboard, about an inch or so from the right side (if facing the right way). Using a generous amount of glue, adhere the cardboard piece to the right side of the lid. Place a large pile of books on top and let dry (preferably overnight).
9. A beautiful custom-made protective case for your kindle or iPad is ready, costs next to nothing and looks great!
